Taught in over 109 countries around the world, the PYP curriculum is designed for Graders 1 to 5 (age 5 to 12 years) and is uniquely adaptable to state and national standards. The curriculum nurtures and develops students to be active participants in their own learning journey.
Global Indian International School is a candidate school* for the PYP. It is being offered at our Campus since April 2019. We are pursuing authorisation as an IB World School which shares a common philosophy of commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education, that we believe is important for our students.
We have designed our PYP activities keeping our students at the centre of the learning process. The idea is to encourage them to be involved through active participation and engage in an inquiry-based approach, even as teachers act as facilitators and observers in this entire process of knowledge gathering.
Transdisciplinary method allows students to discover answers to key questions such as “who am I, where do I belong, what is the importance of the environment around me”. This method weaves a story which moves from subject to subject to teach the students the essence of each topic. The framework directs students to apply the acquired knowledge to think, reflect, analyse, problem solve and evaluate.
IB PYP is designed to engage students in projects and assignments, which teach them to work in groups, to collaborate and to share information with each other in order to enhance their knowledge. It focuses on the development of students as life-long learners. Learning happens in a fun and interactive manner and students learn the importance of teamwork and discussions to solve problems.
